The first step to a successful claim

Firstly the accident must have occurred during the last three years.

Secondly, it should not be your fault – in other words you must have been riding responsibly and following the traffic signs and rules of the road.

Thirdly, you must be able to show evidence of injury and/or damage to your bicycle and/or clothing – and, of course, have some details of the offending party.

It doesn’t matter whether someone else deliberately caused the accident or not – most accidents are accidents. Cycle accidents can be caused by:
  • Pedestrians doing something unexpected, such as stepping into the road without looking.
  • Negligence on the part of other vehicle drivers – whether it’s a bus or lorry, or even another cyclist.
  • Road conditions – where roads are not in good repair and potholes or ruts have caused you to lose control of your bicycle.
Even if the incident appears to have been unavoidable there are usually still grounds for a claim.

Your first step is to give us a call on 0800 612 4545 and our expert team will ask you a few questions and make an assessment of your claim.
