BICYCLE ACCIDENT INVOLVING SEVERAL CARS AND ONE DRIVERBicycle accident involving several cars and one driver. Who is to blame in this bicycle accident? Why you need a specialist injury lawyer? Here's an example of some of the stranger cycle accident claims that we receive. My eleven year old son was out riding on his BMX bike during the Christmas holidays with some friends and was involved in a bicycle accident involving another driver and several parked cars. His friends and another independent witness have collaborated his story and I am wondering if he has a claim against the driver for compensation considering the bizarre circumstances. My son and his friends had set up some planking in our road and were cycling down the hill, riding up the planking which was supported on oil drums and doing twists in the air before coming to land on the grass bank. It was all pretty harmless stuff and they weren't bothering anyone. However, one miserable neighbour who takes exception to just about everything the local children do went out and started shouting at them. The children of course retaliated in the way all children do and became abusive towards him. BICYCLE ACCIDENTAccording to witness accounts of the bicycle accident, this neighbour got into his car and drove off and the children returned to their activity. It was when my son had ridden to the top of the road and was cycling as fast as he could towards the plank that our neighbour returned. As my son rode down the hill, the neighbour accelerated up behind my sons bike and then nudged his back wheel as he was about to ride up the plank. The added and sudden burst of speed that this gave my sons bike could have lead to a very serious bicycle accident. Experts say that he was most likely travelling at 50 miles per hour when he hit the plank and took off into the air. He cleared the grass bank and landed on the first roof of a row of cars that were parked side by side. Witnesses say he kept his balance and managed to ride across the roofs of the first half dozen cars, slipped on his side across the next three or four and regained control of his bicycle as he came to the end, landing on both wheels as he landed on the ground. If the Mr Whippy van had not come round the corner at that point and hit him, my son would most likely have come away from the accident with minor injuries. Instead, he received a broken collar bone, fractured pelvis and other minor injuries. The police are prosecuting the driver of car who hit him but there is a question over the culpability of my son and his friends in the activities. I would like to speak to a lawyer who specialises in bicycle accidents. |
